Gunite Construction

Layout Pool: Lay out pool using marking paint. Let customer approve the location.

Forming: Form pool with lumber. Pool is formed 1' larger than actual size. This is for the thickness of gunite pools.

Pull string and dig pool to custom details on contract. (Size, Shape, and Depth)

Steel: Place 3/8" Steel on 1' squares (Horizontal & Vertical). Place broken bricks under steel to keep in place for guniting. Notice wall is extra thick at top for pool beam.

Plumbing: We use SC40 plastic pipe for plumbing skimmer and bottom main drain.

Gunite: Gunite is a type of concrete made with dry cement and sand. This mixture is blown through a 3" hose. Water is mixed at the end of the nozzle with a garden hose.

As pool shell is blown in with a compressor, men are trimming and shaping.

Tile: One row of 6"x6" tile is placed on top perimeter of pool. This is for water collar and to level pool water. Also 3"x6" tile is added on all steps and edges for safety and appearance.

Brick: Bullnose brick is placed on top perimeter of pool deck.

Grounding: As water moves it generates static electricity. We ground all metal parts (Steel in shell, Light Niche, Ladders and hand rails) for your safety. This must be done by a licensed electrician and inspected.

Deck: Most decks are 4" thick concrete with a light broom finish.

Filter system: Chlorine filter pumps or a salt generator is the heart of a pool. Most systems will fit on 4'x4' concrete area. If you add water features you will have more pumps and need a larger area.

Plaster: Plaster is the last step on the pool. All plaster is white cement and marble flour which makes a very white material so we add a plaster color. It comes in several colors and is added to the mixture before applying.
